Mozart's portrait on the gold coin originates from the second important portrayal of Mozart: the silver point drawing by Dora Stock from 1789. Organ pipes, violin and spinet-keys symbolise the spiritual and secular work of the immortal composer as well as his universal genius in all genres of music. The name at the bottom is based upon an original signature of Mozart.

This is the most frequently performed opera by Mozart, the great magic fable with fairy-tale figures. The coin's design shows Tamino and Pamina at the initiation ceremony in the Temple - the ordeal by fire - a test which they pass with the help of the magic flute.
